Flow Global R&D Tax Credit Success Story

Founded in 2019, Flow Global is an inclusive and socially-minded FinTech company that provides innovative and easy-to-access liquidity solutions for small merchants. They currently provide these services in Uganda and Rwanda. Their mission is to enable local, small-scale retail merchants to prosper in an increasingly connected digital economy. Flow Global guarantees its clients (mostly female mobile money agents) a steady supply of e-money so they can run their businesses reliably and facilitate the economic activities of local communities.

The Challenge

The complexity of Flow Global’s multi-lateral and international operations, technologies and business models, combined with the complex nature of R&D tax credits regulations, meant that the Flow Global team felt they could not process a claim in-house or with their standard accountancy partners. They wanted to work with an experienced R&D specialist to ensure they claimed correctly and optimised the claim value.

The Solution

Easy R&D steered Flow Global through complexity, creating the clear path to a successful claim.

The Easy R&D consultants and technical teams had to examine a complicated set of proprietary applications that had been developed to execute international working capital loans. Flow Global’s unique technology platform, the Flow Liquidity Engine, uses alternative data analytics and advanced machine learning to deliver a unique service. With its a new and advanced digital eco-system, the platform can score and service all stakeholders in the international small business liquidity cycle, in under 3 minutes.

The Flow Liquidity engine is a complex, networked proprietary solution that works in harmony with a number of partner providers to address the real word needs of local retail merchants. It required an expert and thorough review process to create a solid claim, with evidence of eligible activity and detailed technical report.

To navigate the complexity of Flow Global’s R&D activity, we researched and created a comprehensive, accurate and detailed set explanatory documentation to support the Flow Global R&D Tax Credit claim. While working collaboratively with the Flow Global team, we were delighted to do most of the heavy lifting, making sure that the claim management process was not a distraction to their core innovation and business processes.
